cos· play /ˈkäzˌplā/ noun

dressing up and acting as a character from a comic book, movie, television show, novel, or video game

cause· play /ˈkAWzˌplā/ noun

1. cosplaying to bring joy to kids & families in need

2. using cosplay to enhance the work of charities

I’m a costume/prop-maker and charity cosplayer living in Manhattan, Kansas.  I pattern and sew costumes from scratch, 3D print and paint armor and accessories, and do makeup and latex work.  Sometimes I buy components for my costume builds or an entire costume.

I love to use cosplay to create moments of real, spontaneous joy for people, especially for charities and hospitals. I’ve been a member of the Just-Us League for a few years as their Spider-Man and Robin.  I’m also seeking official membership in the Mandalorian Mercs, a Star Wars costume club specifically for Mandalorians.  Through these groups I get to provide free costumed entertainment for people, especially kids and families, dealing with major struggles.  Being able to bring joy and help them step outside of their situation for just a moment is such an honor and gives my hobby real meaning.

MY MISSION

MAKE

I will make costumes and props for myself, for members of my cosplay teams (The Just-Us League and Mandalorian Mercs), for children and families involved with the charities those groups partner with, and props and costumes to sell to benefit those charities.

WEAR

I will appear at events in costume to help create unforgettable, joyful experiences for children and families involved with our charity partners, to fundraise for those charitable organizations, and to get the word out about the groups I work with (The Just-Us League and Mandalorian Mercs) at conventions.  I also really love bringing joy to those conventions in costume, too.

SHARE

I will strive to have genuine, meaningful relationships with my charity cosplay peers, with the organizations I get the opportunity to work with, and with the families supported by those charities.  I will be generous beyond peoples' expectations and use my support to create real joy to the best of my ability.

MY CHARITY COSPLAY PARTNERS

I volunteer to entertain in costume at no cost to Charitable Organizations for Charity Events & Fundraisers, Hospital Visits, individual families, Story Times, and many other types of appearances through my connections to The Just-Us League, Planet Comicon, and the Mandalorian Mercs.  I participate in about 50 events each year.
